My First Experience with Amma

Om Amriteshwariyah Namah !

There was a new project that had come in the company that I was working with . It was in Web Technologies and SQL Server. I was a programmer in Client/Server technologies and Oracle.I had just learned a course in Web Technologies but did not work on any projects. It was around 2001-02. It was an outsourced project from US.In order to match their timings , I had to work in the night shift. It was only me and my project manager who were in the night shift and working on this project.I did not have anyone to clarify my doubts .My project manager was totally unfamiliar with web technologies.The entire work was through internet. The project manager from US would email me the tasks every day . He would chat with me through Yahoo IM. He also used to guide me by letting me know any pre existing code to program the tasks that he had given.He would then check every two hours on status of the tasks.

It was in the year 2001 that I had met Amma for the first time. While having darshan, Amma had said 'Amma Koode Unde`' (Amma is with you) three times. An year before I had an opportunity to read Amma's biography and had a good idea of Amma's background. I had read that mental chanting 'Amma','Amma' is same as calling Amma. Even though I was meeting Amma for the first time in my life, when I went for Amma's darshan , I felt an unknown familiarity as if I had known Amma always. Now coming back to my work, I had two challenges. One was not to fall asleep and other was to do my assigned tasks in a new technology all alone that too in the night shift.

As I was all alone, I had no option but to rely on Amma. I tried to analyze that if someone like Amma says that SHE is with me, then it would be true. With this in mind, I used to mentally chant 'Amma','Amma' while working. This helped me in keeping my mind focused. And also I could solve issues in my software program in some way or the other. Sometimes I could solutions from other code, sometimes from the internet etc....Any day when I get stuck up with my work or do not know any answer, I found that the internet is down and the project manager from the US could not check with me the status every two hours. In this way, I got sufficient time to work on the issues and resolve it . This was building lot of self confidence in me and there was a mystic calmness and enthusiasm in me that kept me going even though I was in the night shift for nearly 6 months.

The summary is that I could work on a new technology all alone in the night shift. The project was a success and there were more team members added to the project . And after 6 months, the project was shifted to day shift and I was managing about 9 of them. This made me believe that Amma is with me and Amma means it when she says 'Amma Koode Unde`' (Amma is with you). My humble pranams to Amma.
